Liverpool Claim Merseyside Supremacy with 2-0 Victory over Everton

Salah Brace Sinks 10-Man Toffees at Anfield

Liverpool returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Merseyside rivals Everton at Anfield on Saturday.

Goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah secured all three points for the Reds, who moved back into the Premier League's top four with the victory.

Salah's Penalty Triumph

The first half ended goalless, but Liverpool broke the deadlock in the 75th minute when Mo Salah converted a penalty past Jordan Pickford. Andre Young was sent off for Everton for the foul that led to the spot-kick.

Origi's Late Seal

Dominic Origi made the points safe for Liverpool five minutes from time, heading home from Luis Diaz's cross. It was Origi's sixth goal against Everton in all competitions.

Everton's Missed Opportunity

Everton, who had been rejuvenated under new manager Sean Dyche, were reduced to 10 men after Young's red card. Despite the setback, they still had chances to equalize, but they failed to capitalize.

The result leaves Everton 13th in the Premier League table, while Liverpool move up to fifth, two points behind Tottenham Hotspur.
